charitable marketing

Does anyone else think Apple is being cheap by only donating $10 from each red iPod sold? Apple surely could match Gap's donation amount of 50% to the Global Fight against AIDS. The (product) red campaign is packaged so nicely from celebrity faces to neat tee's, not to mention the items support a cause that is good and trendy. Too bad needs that affect individuals and families closer to home aren't hip right now. I'd love to see these programs:

1. Feed the Hungry. Grocery brands to donate a percentage of sales for a month to food banks.
2. Affordable Medical Insurance. Surely Apple market this one with a colorful iPod?
3. Lower Costs Homes for Families. I see 50 Cent and Sarah Jessica Parker as the celebrity faces for this one.
4. Jobs for Unemployed Due to Overseas Production. This would be a awesome Gap tee.
