Patrick gave me a digital timer for Christmas last year. It has been the most useful gift. Here is how I use my timer:
1. Timing baking, of course. A much better plan than watching the clock.
2. Quiet time. Leave Mom alone until you hear a beep!
3. Fast food. When the timer goes off, chow time is over. Good for food slow pokes.
4. Clean up. The kitchen is gross, how much can I tackle in 5 minutes?
5. Time outs. A classic use.
The only improvement this handy item needs is a friendlier beep. How cool would is be if my timer beeped a great Rolling Stones tune. Then every timed session would end with a good rock out! What's your favorite multi-use item? If you could pick a new beep for your timer, what would it be?

Loving your new blog look and direction. More reasons to come back often. And love your timer tips.
Ditto design mom. You have many good ideas and I love tips. Can't wait to read more.
love the new look, this post is just reminding me of my annoying cell phone ring tone that my darling husband thought would be funny...it's Back in Black...who sings that? AC/DC or something? So me, isn't it. I could change it, but I never think about it until it rings and I turn bright red because I am so embarrassed by it.
I also love my timer. I set it for 20 minutes and see how much I can get done. Usually only the dishes....
Sometimes I use it as a warning--"When this goes beep-beep-beep, then it's time for bed."
The tips thing is pretty darn cool. Just what the blogging circle needed.
ah thanks girlies!!
Love the fast food idea. Connor is the slowest (most distracted) eater ever!
I guess I'm missing the boat by not having a timer...doubt it would make pria eat any faster anyways...but my favorite multiuse item is still my ipod. It's a good way to say I'm on my time, you need to just go play.
