stealth veggies

I'm can't wait to check out Deceptively Delicious, a new kid friendly cook book by Jessica Seinfeld. Here is a little blurb from a recent interview over at Celebrity Baby Blog:

"I was spending so much energy trying to get them to eat vegetables -- bribing them, begging them, whining at them. I wanted to take the conflict out of mealtime."

"Jessica accomplished her goal by dedicating Sunday afternoons to making purees out of the hated vegetables. Some of her biggest hits? Sweet potatoes hidden in pancakes and cauliflower in chicken salad and mashed potatoes."

My kids just don't eat vegetable willingly. Afton will gag down some carrots by force and Abel will sometimes not notice cooked up tomatoes. I'm paranoid about the lack of veggies so hope some of Jessica's tips will work for me.

Do you have veggie tips that work for your kids?

my sisters kids would eat any veggies if they had ranch to dip it in. doesn't work for z so far...but maybe for your kids?

Pria eats "Trees" and "Snakes" we made it a fun game when she was little...the other ones, we've made her the deal of she has to try a bite of them when we have them.

Maybe eventually I'll get sneaky with them...for now I just ask her to try them.
