If you haven't discovered the untapped resource of kids who can do chores, take a look around your house. There is a toddler or preschoolers begging you for some cleaning fun! Here are a few tips on how to get your little ones involved in cleaning-and I mean more than picking up toys!
1. Let your child spray a non-toxic cleaner (I use Fantastik Oxy Power) on windows, doors, and chairs then have them count to 20 (or however high they can count) when they wipe the surface with a rag. Kids LOVE spray bottles and will have loads of cleaning fun doing this.
2. If you have a stick vacuum, show your little one how to turn it on and let them loose. I give Afton a specific area to vacuum, then she moves on to more and more carpet space on her own.
3. Give your child a Swiffer dry cloth and have them dust a down low area. Show them how the cool cloth "eats" the dirt all up.
4. At the end of your day, turn off most the lights, and give your child a flashlight. Go on a toy hunt and put away the toys. Picking up becomes a great adventure!
5. Pick a place down low and safe in your kitchen to store your child's plates, cups and few napkins. Show your child how to set her place at the table using the easy access drawer or cabinet. Then show her how to clear her place at the end of the meal.
5. At the end of cleaning time, give your child a few coins for her own bank. She will be so happy to have her own money, especially if you tell her once she saves it up she can go to the store and buy something new! If your little one is too young for money, a small treat or favorite game is an excellent reward.
With these tips you can save time, have some fun with chores and start teaching your little one the value of work.

Awesome! I am looking forward to having a dishwasher one day so I can teach my kids the joy of unloading and loading the dishes. That is totally my favorite chore.
