First, my February New Report:
Well, the Supreme Court proved to be a very boring topic. No wonder I don't know a thing about the most powerful judiciary institution in the country! It's dry and largely uninteresting. Or maybe William Rehnquist just tells boring stories about the Supreme Court. I read one chapter of the book then looked at all the pictures and happily gave it back to the library. Maybe I'll try to find a children's book on this subject. Or a comic book!
Caribbean Sweet Potatoes and Black Beans turned out so well. Except I omitted the sweet potatoes part because the thought of maple sweet potatoes with spicy turkey sausage made me queasy. I suppose I should rename my version of this recipe Caribbean Beans and Rice. The spice combination was bold and yummy and both my kids ate it!
Still no luck with a story time for my kids. They all seem to be in the morning when we go to the gym or preschool.
For March I am already super excited about my new things!
Book: Stand Up For What You Believe: a personal history of a woman in my ward who is German and lived through World War II. Her home was destroyed by a bomb during the Terror Nights. Both brothers were POW's for many years and she was separated from her family for 2 years. I finished reading it today and so enjoyed the personal perspective of a girl and young woman who had so many struggles in her life and held onto her firmly rooted values. This woman will be speaking at my book club meetings this month and I'm thrilled to hear more from her about her amazing life.
Meal: Gruyere, Arugula and Prosciutto-Stuffed Chicken Breasts with Caramalized Shallot Sauce. I know, YUMMY! I already know I will substitute proscuitto for bacon. I love gruyere and arugula and cannot wait to taste these two things in this combination.
Kids: I'm excited to take Afton to the Science Museum. I think she is old enough to have fun with the bigger kid museum here in Richmond. We haven't had mommy-daughter time in a while and I and I have a B1G1 coupon to use. Bonus!
Me: I think I'll stick with running the 10k. It's new and all consuming. I am adding a twist to the plan and am going to go treatless (except weekends...i'm realistic) for the last 3 weeks to see what added bonuses all that running will bring.
Try NEW things this month and share them with me!!!
