Little insights for home, family, bargains and more: great deals of the week

On my birthday, I went strolling/shopping in a hip area in Richmond, Carytown. I had been hearing great things about a consignment store but knew my double stroller and two grabby kids were not going to make the store an enjoyable browsing experience. So I took Patrick instead, who happily looked through racks with me and gave insightful feedback on the shape of my backside in several pairs of pants. Clementine was just my thing. A small space, painted a beaitufl soft orange and brightly colored naked chandeliers, Inviting racks with just the right amount of items in all sorts of prices ranges. Lucky me, I found a pair of J. Crew jeans that I loved for $40! Even better, a few stores down the line, I picked up a pair of Reef sandals for $10!

I love fabulous consignment stores that are realistic about pricing. Google one in your area and pick up a fun pari of capris, jeans or a sweater for next season.

One more thing...

So I'm not a big fan of crazy savings on things that I don't need. A friend has been telling me of a website for bargains but the name put me off. After she shared yet another super deal she found online, I hesitantly visited slickdeals.net (the name evokes slimy, greasy, used car images, I know) and actually was surprised to find a few things of interest. You can get a $25 gift certificate for McCormick & Schmicks by making an online reservation (this isn't one of those sign up for a million newsletter things, it's actually hosted by the reataurant) or print a coupon for B1G1 free at ToysRUs. This website also posts free days at restaurants...apparently Monday was free stack of pancakes day at IHOP! Who knew??

Gymboree is currently having a 20% off all sale items...which means there will be nothing left for a decent price when we try and redeem Gymbucks in 3 weeks!
