I am not a socialite. I really like watching a move at home with Patrick. I only have a handful of friends. I even like to go out by myself and not run errands. So when Patrick took me to his school prom this weekend I was feeling really out of place.
We showed up at nine on the nose when they were still setting up (when you have a sitter you use every minute!). Patrick told me the dress was semi formal, which it was...if you were a guy. All the girls were glitzed up. I had bought a new funky dress for the occasion but it did not have velvet, sequins or a plunging neckline. I was the only gal with sleeves and together we were the only sober people. Trying to be a good date, I shook hands and tried to make small stupid talk with people I'd never met. The three people I did know were out of their minds drunk. It was like a high school party for the artsy kids who never when to their high school prom.
Until..we got on the dance floor. Dancing is my most favorite past time. I love to dance...really love to dance. Patrick too. We have family dance parties for fun so Patrick can introduce Afton to Fall Out Boys, his favorite new DJ whoever and instill a love for the classics. I was a bit self conscience to let loose but then I remembered that everyone else was wasted. I felt the groove and got into the groove (ooo I wished the DJ would have spun that song). Date night has never been more exhilarating. We haven't has this much fun since our karaoke car ride last May.
Hey Mr. DJ put some music on I wanna dance with my baby...
